Award winning bronze sculptor Kirk Dudley is making his debut as a Bitcoin artist by presenting Miffed! Prominent Occlusion at the Bitcoin 2024 Conference in Nashville, Tennessee, July 25-27. Kirk has created a revision of a bronze sculpture he made in the 80’s and has brought it to life in the form of t-shirts to promote his sculpture business. The shirts say, “Don’t be Miffed! Turn your back on TradFi,” on the front and have the artwork on the back.
Among other things, the work represents the financial situation people facing inflation find themselves in and how difficult it is to get ahead. “Bitcoin is the best apparent solution,” said Mr. Dudley, “Nothing else comes close.”
If successful, this gorilla test marketing project will followed by desktop sized, limited-editions of bronze sculptures in early 2025. Custom sizes of Kirk’s work will also be available to order. Because the art will be scanned, copies can be scaled to any size including life size and monumental for a business park or other location. “Just like the bean shaped Cloud Gate in Chicago was made, we just produce it in chunks and weld them into position on site,” Kirk said, “An internal structure and anchor system are also engineered and professionally installed to keep the sculpture stable.”
The next project will be a more joyful version titled, Stoked! Diamond Hands.
Kirk has also written a Bitcoin poem and is available to perform on stage upon request as a two-minute filler in between presentations at events.
Background
During a show of his abstract series in San Francisco last March, Kirk saw an ad for the Bitcoin 2024 conference and bought a ticket. “I got my first Bitcoin in 2017 and wanted to get involved with the community,” said Dudley. “I had to act fast to bring something to market. Lead time for making new sculptures would be three to four months so I decided to go with shirts. This gave me an opportunity to create a play on words as well.”
